UK-AILD represents a revolution in the approach to treating autoimmune liver disease. The autoimmune liver diseases (AILD) Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), Autoimmune Hepatitis (AIH) and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis are important conditions that can shorten lives and reduce quality of life. Real progress has been made in the last few years with new treatments for PBC, but important challenges remain in the treatment of AIH and PSC, as well as where people have more than one of these conditions (“overlap syndromes”). We also need to make progress in the treatment of symptoms.
WHAT IS THE VISION?
The vision of UK-AILD is to fundamentally re-assess the autoimmune liver diseases so that we can understand the processes that contribute to each of them and target these processes with new treatments as well as existing treatments used in a new way. In simple terms we want to transform the lives of all people with autoimmune liver disease.
BUILT ON PARTNERSHIPS
UK-AILD is a unique partnership of patients and patient groups, clinical teams across the UK, scientists and industry. We have shown in PBC how this partnership can transform disease. Now we want to do the same for all autoimmune liver disease. If you share our vision this web-site will tell you how you can join our partnership.
